Ah, I cannot count how many times I’ve encountered this question. Many women who follow God, but married unbelievers, have hope and ask: “Can a Christian wife save her husband?”.
This is a sad situation – instead of being taken care of spiritually and led by a Godly husband, you need to worry to lift the two of you closer to God. I can imagine it is a big challenge.
So is it possible or not? Can a women make a revolution and bring faith to her home? Can a Christian wife save her husband? Let’s answer these questions and get rid of the doubts.
Save In Which Sense?
Let’s get the basic off first. God is the only one who saves. He died on the cross and only by accepting this gift we are able to enter His Kingdom. Can you open the gates of Heaven for somebody else as His follower? Certainly now. But you can share the Gospel and hope for the best. It is not on you to save your husband in a sense of giving him eternal life.
This is his choice and the offer of God. And believe me when I say this – it is not your responsibility at all. Of course, it is your obligation to serve the Lord and show His love to your husband, but if he stays stubborn and does not want to turn to God – it is not your fault.
It is time to get rid of unnecessary pressure and accusing yourself that your husband has not found the Lord yet because you messed up once or twice. We all do! But God never changes, He is there waiting for him all the time.

But if we treat the word “save” in a slightly different category, like help to see the Lord, positively influence his behavior, etc., then yes, in this case, a wife can save her husband. Just like the Bible says:
Peter 3:1-2 “Wives, in the same way, submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.”
Isn’t this passage comforting? You can do so much in your marriage being a wife. You can set a great example, respect your husband, and treat him well, and finally, he starts wondering why you are so good to him.
And then he will have a choice to have that too, or… not. Don’t stress out about the result, since it’s not on you. Focus on what you CAN do and then do it faithfully.
See how the Bible says “without words” in this passage. You can share the Gospel non-verbally by simply submitting and loving your husband like crazy. There is no place for being pretentional and expecting princess treatment. “I will not be good to him, since he treats me badly”.
My dear reader, it is not about you. It’s about the Kingdom of God and the eternal life. Do you really wish to hate your husband and never make an effort to show him the Lord because “he does not deserve it”? Well, did you deserve God’s grace that was given to you? Exactly. That’s why it’s called “grace”. So pass it!
