Colors of Elegance – 9 Shades Which Make You Look Expensive

Elegance is a noble concept of putting people at ease with the way we talk, behave, and dress. It also means looking neat, well put together, and sometimes expensive too. To achieve that we can use the help of colors of elegance.

Looking expensive does not mean spending a bunch of money. Believe me, some people do that and the effect is still far from the desired one. 🙂

For example, putting on a shirt with a huge designer’s logo and covering 71% of your body with gold (including teeth!) DOES NOT equal looking elegant.

I believe that even having a small budget for clothes you can still achieve a very neat, elegant look.

Mostly by using such simple things as colors of elegance.

Color Psychology in Colors of Elegance

Colors have power and can influence our perception of a person. Especially when it is our first meeting. Of course, somebody wearing a worn-out stained shirt might turn out the most elegant person by behavior, but it would not be the first impression that they are sending.

Clothes do not define us – by no means! But I believe they are giving people a peek at our story before we even speak.

I am totally pro affordable fashion – to look expensive, you do not need to buy expensive things. Seems like a paradox?

If you pick the right clothes when it comes to shape, fabric, and color – no matter if you spend 10$, 100$, or (oh my) 1000$ on a piece of clothing, you can still look quite elegant.

I’m about to prove to you that doing as simple things as paying more attention to colors and picking colors of elegance in your daily outfits can elevate your style. Really. Let me show you 🙂

Colors of Elegance

When you think of elegance, what colors come to your mind? Let me guess, black and white? Or maybe black, white, and red?

These are some stereotypical colors of elegance and sure, some of their shades are certainly truly elegant.

But elegance evolved over the years, giving us more and more specific shades that implement elegance.

Before I jump to them, one more tip. What I’ve noticed is that people wearing bright clothes seem more elegant. Maybe it’s just an impression but overall – bright colors need to be kept neat and stainless otherwise it is really visible on them.

And bright colors have this smooth energy to them. Added up we have a very elegant look.

Of course, among the colors of elegance are some darker shades as well. But wearing gentle and bright neutrals you cannot go wrong.

Navy Blue

That’s probably one of the few darker colors that simply have a timeless elegance to them. Navy Blue can be paired well with such classics as white, beige, or apricot.

Of course, no offense to black, but navy blue is a more modern option. Black is timeless but if you want to add an elegant fashionista factor to your outfit, navy blue is your shot.

Blazers, dresses, accessories. It serves well as a main color just as well as the accent one. Very grateful shade. Every elegant lady has at least one item in this color.

Beige

When I was little my grandma told me beige is one of the most elegant colors. Soft and light can pair well with more vivid colors.

One should be careful when picking their neutrals – if you have a cool tone of skin, the warm ones can disharmonize with your beauty. Having a warm one it is better to avoid cool neutrals.

Of course, you can play around with neutral shades, but the main color will look better if it is suitable for your beauty type.

Black

Timeless and classy. Black dress, black heels, black handbag – these items will help you add some elegance to other colors.

I am not such a fan of black but to each their own.

Still, I cannot deny that black is one of the most significant colors of elegance.

Camel

Camel is such an elegant color – looks especially good on trenchcoats or accessories such as shoes or bags.

You can combine it with black, red, and beige just as well as other colors. Anything goes perfectly with the camel color.

Also, you can add more than one item in this shade to create a very elegant and monochromatic outfit.

Every lady who wants to be elegant and have class should have at least one coat in an elegant color. Camel is a perfect choice!

Grey

Over time grey evolved to be considered one of the colors of elegance. But it is not that easy to operate with grey – the wrong shade can make you look cheap, especially when the material you’re wearing is poorly made.

For safety aim at the brightest or the darkest shades of grey – like cloud or charcoal. Combining the darker shades of grey with white is a very nice trick you can use – it will give some nice contrast to your outfit but still look elegant because of the white.

Which leads us to another color:

White

White button shirt or white coat – very formal and elegant items. This color generally elevates the elegance in any outfit.

Especially if you combine it with other brighter colors.

It does not mean obviously that pairing it with darker shades or for instance black will be wrong – it will look good, too.

But even when you look at sneakers – a white outfit can still look elegant with bright sneakers when the black ones lower it down.

Dusty Pink

As a lover of pink, I admire this shade. It is feminine but still muted enough to please even those who have pink.

Very gentle and elegant, still classy but a more modern variation than the timeless pair of black and white.

It became very fashionable a few years ago and stayed like this till the very day. You can never go wrong with dusty pink.

Mustard Yellow

This autumn shade of yellow is one of the colors of elegance. It goes well as a main color and elevates the whole outfit.

It is popular to wear not in its best season – autumn – so choosing it not only gives you an elegant look but also makes you look trendy.

Mustard yellow is a pretty muted color so it will look best on autumn beauty type – but of course, it does not mean other seasons cannot benefit from it.

Red

We reached another part of the classic trio – red! It is a strong color so it can be paired with darker shades like black or charcoal just as well as with brighter ones – beige or white.

Red is like glue – whichever elegant colors you pick, adding red with only strengthen the elegant effect.

The classic red is of course leading the Red Army, but if you want to be more unique, shades such as coral red or burgundy will still look expensive.

The Best Combinations With Colors of Elegance

The colors above are ruling when it comes to elegant looks. But you can experiment and add other colors to them to create a more interesting outfit.

These combos look elegant and timeless, yet still give you the space for artistic expression.

Elegance and uniqueness seem like two opposite words, but in practice – you can have both AT ONCE! 🙂

Earthy Colors of Elegance

Combining muted shades of green with grey and brown will always look elegant and cohesive. You can pair just two shades – for example, bottle green and chocolate. Or you can combine a bunch of them as long as they all stay on the earthy side.

Such a combination is rather darker, but still, earthy colors are usually looking elegant.

Pastel Shades and White

Very bright and sweet combo – you can pick any pastel shade(s) you want to tighten it up with some white.

This look is flaw-proof and will always look feminine.

White and black are base colors of elegance so you can create a foundation from each of them. And then simply add some other colors.

Black and White With a Twist

Of course, black and white is a timeless combination. But, let’s admit it, it might seem boring by now.

Luckily, we can still save its beauty by simply adding a strong accent color.

Here the options are limitless. From classic red to turquoise. Black and white will still defend the elegance of your outfit, even if you pick the craziest shade as an accent color. 🙂

White and Bright Neutrals

Very classy and trendy combo. Neutrals are very elegant and paired with white… wait, now we have turbo elegant combination 🙂

You can pick your favorite neutral, some white items and you’re ready to go.

Have Fun With These Colors of Elegance!

These colors and tips will help you achieve a more expensive look, yet remember – you still have your unique style.

So if some colors – no matter how super turbo elegant they are – seem not for you, that’s fine.

Fashion is for people not all the way around. 🙂

Love, Marysia
