How I fixed my hair with this one step (totally worth it!)t

Let’s be honest, hair is important for all of us, women. And so it was, and still is, for me. Luckily, exactly two years ago I made a smart decision to repair my damaged hair once and for all. And if you too are wondering how to fix your hair, you’re in the right place, because I’m about to spill the tea and tell you exactly what to do for your hair to look more healthy and shiny.

The Story of My Hair

I was born with smooth, caramel, straight strands. And at the age of thirteen I COMPLETLY messed up my hair and you know what has saved them? Short, dramatic cut.

Here you can see my hair from before that:

When I was a teen, I escaped into the world of Harry Potter, oh my, so typical, right? Hermione was everything I wanted to be, right up to her crown of hair. If only I could be like her…

And so, at the age of thirteen, without knowing the meaning of such simple hairdressing terms as
“regrowth”, I decided to get a perm to look like my idol. Ouch, you think. No one stopped me, no one made me aware of the devastating consequences – although even if they had, I would not have listened. I wanted to be Hermione, without a question mark, without three thoughtful dots, but with a loud
exclamation mark – Hermione!

I sat down in the chair at the salon, and even the hairdressers were surprised: “What? Permanent? At
such an age?!”, but they obediently put some smelly inventions into my hair. And yes, I left the
salon with my hair looking like a mane. They were so fluffy and huge that I could feel the eyes of
passers-by. I had what I wanted. I w a s Hermione. Right? Right?!

Not right! I was just the girl with the burnt hair. Well, it went on like that for years, I didn’t really discern it all, but it certainly didn’t escape my notice that, damn it, combing that hay was hard work.

Long Journey

The hair gradually turned into waves, although no one knew from what ocean. Not the stormy
South, not the gentle Pacific, not even the cold Arctic. When they didn’t look much like
Hermione anymore, and my obsession and desire to be someone else diminished, I set myself a
second hair goal – LONG!

They were supposed to squirm and fall onto my backside, just like that.

It was so important to me and at the same time so unattainable, because my hair seemed to
stand still, that I accidentally wrote down my dream of having long hair three times in my dream
diary. I guess it doesn’t say too well about me, since ending world hunger only appeared once on
the same list. Well, bear with me – I was fifteen!

I didn’t cut the ends regularly because then I would only be sabotaging my goal, right?

Confrontation

My hair grew even more frizzy, and no one bothered it in that stable until one day – I was sitting
on the bus with my sister, and since my sister says whatever she wants, whenever she wants and however she wants, she said:

– Oh my, your dry hair.

– Dry? – I asked hesitantly, although I had a certain feeling that something was wrong with them.

– Well, they’re extremely damaged.

– Oh.
I thought for a moment and started pulling the dull strands of hair between my fingers. As if I
were touching dried horse hay. Why haven’t I noticed this before…? Then, with a trembling voice,
I asked the question I had been afraid of for years.

– How much do you think would have to be cut?
My sister firmly grabbed HALF of my hair.
– At least so far – she said confidently.
But how? Half?! No, that’s definitely an exaggeration.

Annnnd cut!

It turned out that yes, it was an exaggeration, but in the other direction. Less than a month later, I
was sitting in a chair in a hairdressing salon and asked the guy to show me where dead hay ends and
healthy hair begins. I swallowed.

Anyone who has been growing their hair for years knows what
a pain it is. However, I had to take this step. I nodded decisively. The scissors went into action.
And now, a year and a bit later, I have shiny, healthy, STRAIGHT hair.

Combing them takes a few seconds, not long, painful hours. They have grown back and are still growing, and I trim them every few months. I’m not a hair expert, but I know for sure that if something is dead, it’s
best to get rid of it, because it won’t come back to life anyway. Well, unless we’re talking about
Jesus.

How to Fix Your Hair – First And Second Step

Sadly, this step is unavoidable if you want to have healthy, shiny hair. The best solution would be to simply cut all the damage, but I know for many of you it might be too invasive of a way. In this case, at least cutting split ends can bring a visible improvement.

After that, you should focus on two things. The first one is pretty easy and quite cheap. If you are wondering how to fix your hair after you cut the damage/split ends, all it takes is to buy a hair oil or serum that you will use every single day from now on.

Don’t worry, it will just be a drop or two, that you will massage into the ends of your hair. This will prevent further damage and make them look healthier and regenerated. There are many serums out there, but I would suggest going with the most natural one – pure argan oil or sweet almond one will do. And you can buy it in pharmacies for cheap. Like, mine cost exactly 4$.

The thing is, hair gets the most damaged during sleep. That’s why I suggest applying the oil in the evening. Oh, and another thing – if you wonder how to fix your hair, make sure not to go to sleep with wet hair. They are way more sensitive like this, and then the damage that happens when you turn on a pillow is way more serious. Seriously, this small habit turned my frustrating mornings trying to put my hair together into good hair days 🙂

How to Fix Your Hair – Maintenance

All right, so far we talk about how to fix your hair, get rid of the damage, and prevent further issues. But how do we keep our hair healthy and shiny? By using conditioners. And again, this does not have to be expensive. You just need to observe your hair and rotate 3 kinds of conditioners:

  1. Shine and protection – if your hair is mat and “sad”, make sure to use a conditioner that contains oils. They will create a shiny layer on your hair and give them a glow!
  2. Hydration – when your hair seems dry and frizzy, it needs hydrating ingredients, such as honey, sugar, or popular glycerin.
  3. Repair and building – just like muscles, your hair needs protein. Of course, it will not cover up physical damage, but a gentle crack can be still filled up with protein. Use them when your hair needs volume or a repair boost. Protein ingredients are for example creatin.

This whole philosophy on how to fix your hair might seem complicated, but actually after you’ve cut your hair and learned to apply oil regularly, you only need to figure out what your hair needs and when. And believe me, these 3 conditioners will last a long time – you don’t need to apply all of them. Because conditioner goes only on hair, not on the skin on the head, apply it down from the ear.

And that’s it. These 3 simple tricks will do all the magic. 🙂
