Basic Kitchen Essentials for a Housewife

This list contains the basics that you should start with to begin improving your cooking skills:

  1. Chopping boards – people completely underestimate them. If you want to keep your brand-new surfaces pretty like from Pinterest, some decent chopping boards are a must.
  2. Knives – you would be surprised how much easier it is to slice the bread with the proper knife. I mean, I was!
  3. Bowls – mixing meat with spices, making salads, preparing the dough… as a housewife, you will do all of that so a set of good quality bowls comes in handy.
  4. Frying pan – scrambled eggs and bacon will be your safe bet from now on.
  5. Small pot – since for now you will mostly cook for two, one small pot should be enough for a start
  6. Kitchen towels – in case you have sticky fingers just as much as me, such towels will be useful.
  7. Jars – I wanted my kitchen to look cute, that’s why I’m storing my products in jars, but you can just as well use:
  8. Containers – did you know that the prettier you store your food, the more pleasurable cooking gets? 🙂
  9. Salt and pepper shakers – a cute set of them makes the house more like home, doesn’t it?
  10. Apron – the cuter, the better. It seems like a small detail, but believe me, when I got a set of colorful aprons, suddenly I started feeling like a princess in the kitchen.

  10. Blender – this blender saved my life! Okay, a little bit too dramatic, but it made our home menu more advanced.

When It’s Time for a Dessert…

Is it just me or baking feels so cozy and romantic? If next to cooking you want to add baking, make sure to buy:

  1. Mixer! – it is so useful, otherwise you need to do everything by hand which can make one of your biceps way bigger than the other. Just warning.
  2. Measuring cups – baking is all about the right proportions. Yup, you guessed right, I’ve learned it the hard way.
  3. Kitchen scale – to make sure you did not put too much flour… happened to me. Once. Or twice.
  4. Muffin Tray – thanks to that my muffins actually look like muffins, not like crooked mole mounds…
  5. Muffin Cups – I usually get cute and colorful ones – it feels like childhood all over again.
  6. Circle Baking Form – mine has been serving me already in 4th year!
  7. Silicone spatula – I did not know if as a new housewife, if you take out the dough with whisked eggs with such a spatula, they remain fluffy. PS: Get a cute one. I have a pink one with a bunny and it brings me joy every time I use it 🙂
  8. Bread Pan – if you want to be a super housewife and make your own bread, you need proper bread pans!
  9. Cake Holder – I always dreamed of one because it makes transporting the cake, for example to church, so much easier. I promise you, it’s not fun to travel in the tram with uncovered cheesecake…
  10. Silicone Baking Mats – reusable and cute, what else to want?
